I have been getting the urge to make something tiny lately… my limit was 2mm needles, so I went hunting for some lace-weight yarn.
I found a lovely colour-way from Schoppel; a gradient lace-weight that drifts from greens through to pinks, passing on it’s way slate blues and soft purples.
I have a little something in mind for it’s use so I began swatching.
I have divided the yarn into smaller balls of each colour to enable the use of the feather and fan stich. Why did I not think the do this before with gradient yarn?? Colour-work may not be quite so pricey now!
The shades in the yarn reminded me so much of spring… what do you think?
Where do you draw your inspiration from? Do you find yarn first? A pattern? A stitch you want to play with? Or do you have a different method?

Who am I?
A Mummy first a foremost to my two children, Toby and Emily.
We took the decision to home educate the children after Toby had many problems within state education. Unable to send them to a Steiner school at present we base their education around the Waldorf ethos.
This is working out wonderfully so far and we wish we had done it sooner.
Secondly I am a fibre obsessive. Knitting, spinning, felting, dyeing or just generally stroking, anything goes. You can usually find us in the woods or up a hill, by the ocean's edge or climbing trees. Follow the little trail of yarn clippings and there we will be, me with some form of fibre in my bag at all times.

Fairy tales and seeking out the enchanted in everyday life is a big part of our lives, as is plenty of craft and art.
I am a new member of a medieval re-enactment group, the House of the Black Star and have met some amazing people through it. I have much to learn from them.

i am always impressed byu your fine knitting skills. the wedding shawl and this piece are incredibly delicate and wonderful colours.
my inspiration often arises from amazing yarn or from the vision of a finished product. i often dream up things that are beyond my skill level and suffer for it. but i’m working up to more complex things. i am completing my first childs jumper with cableing and a hood so thats a step up! what ever next!!

Thank you so much. There is a great pattern on ravelry called squirm I think, for a child’s cabled jumper with a hood. One of the first cabled patterns I braved. Kids clothes are great fun to play with new skills being so small! Haha xx

oh bother. i just wrote you a lovely long response and then think ive deleted it. oops.
i am inspired by your delicate knitting in the wedding shawl and this piece also. i get inspired by colour. i get inspired by things that are often beyond my skill level and im learning to work towards them in steps. im amidst a cabled kids jumper. 2 firsts for me. whatever next?!!
i have great visions of completed projects and then have to search around for a pattern and yarn to match.

At the moment I seem to fall I love with the yarn then go look on Ravelry to find a pattern to go with the yarn 🙂
